BPS-Statistics Maluku Utara Province Launches DTSEN Updating in Halmahera Barat Regency

Jailolo, January 6, 2026 — BPS-Statistics Maluku Utara Province launched the updating of the National Single Socioeconomic Data (DTSEN) in Halmahera Barat Regency on Tuesday (January 6). The event was attended by the Governor of Maluku Utara, Sherly Tjoanda Laos, and the Deputy of Social Statistics at BPS-Statistics Indonesia, Dr. Ateng Hartono, SE, M.Si., as part of efforts to strengthen the quality of socioeconomic data as a foundation for development planning.

The series of activities began with a direct observation of the Village Deliberation (Musdes) in Tedeng Village. The activity is one of the important stages in the verification and updating of DTSEN, particularly to ensure that the data accurately reflects the actual conditions of the community in the field.

During the process, village officials conducted data matching and verification for households included in the first to fourth deciles. This process was carried out to ensure that the available data remains accurate, up to date, and consistent with the actual socioeconomic conditions of the community.

In her remarks, Governor of Maluku Utara Sherly Tjoanda Laos emphasized the importance of conducting direct verification of target households. According to her, direct field visits are essential for obtaining more accurate information, enabling the data updating process to be carried out more accurately and targeted.

Meanwhile, Deputy of Social Statistics at BPS-Statistics Indonesia, Dr. Ateng Hartono, stated that the quality of DTSEN updating is highly dependent on the competence of field officers and systematic data collection processes. To support this, BPS has prepared trained field officers and utilizes the FASIH application as the official platform for data collection and updating.

The launch of DTSEN updating in Halmahera Barat Regency was also accompanied by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the local government and BPS. The signing reflects a joint commitment to strengthening collaboration in the provision of up-to-date, integrated, and high-quality socioeconomic data.

BPS-Statistics Maluku Utara Province continues to strengthen the data ecosystem through a measurable updating process involving various stakeholders. Collaboration among BPS, local governments, village governments, and communities plays an important role in ensuring that the resulting data more accurately represents the conditions of the population.

Through continuous DTSEN updating, socioeconomic data is expected to become an increasingly robust foundation for supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of various development programs. High-quality data also plays an important role in ensuring that government policies can be designed more accurately and targeted effectively, ultimately providing greater benefits to the people of Maluku Utara.
